Motorcyclist Dies After Accident in Mt. Hope

Motorcycles are a popular form of transportation throughout the United States. However, there’s no doubt that they are especially beloved here in San Diego. This is definitely due, in large part, to the ample opportunities there are to ride and all the amazing scenery to enjoy. Unfortunately, this also means San Diego suffers from a greater amount of motorcycle accidents every year.

Sadly, another one occurred recently in the Mt. Hope neighborhood. It was this past Friday evening when the accident happened. A 25-year old man, who has since been identified by police as Jared Daniel Grady of San Diego, was riding a Yamaha motorcycle down the 3800 block of Market Street.

Another man, 35—who remains unnamed at this time—was leaving Mount Hope Cemetery in a Ford Explorer. When he pulled his vehicle into Market Street, the Explorer became directly in the way of the motorcyclist. Though it sounds like Grady may have tried his best to avoid a crash, there was little he could do at this point. Ultimately, he slammed his motorcycle into the side of the SUV.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner reported that Grady was pronounced dead at the scene. There has been no word about the other driver regarding his potential injuries. We also don’t know if he has been charged with anything, either.

Needless to say, though, he should be speaking with an attorney as soon as he can. Even if he’s not currently facing charges, the statute of limitations is far from expired. On top of that, just because the authorities don’t file charges doesn’t mean Grady’s family won’t decide to later on in civil court.

Again, we don’t yet know who is to blame for this accident. However, any time you’re involved with one this serious, legal representation is a must.
