Head-On Crash in Oceanside Leaves Three Injured

San Diego is home to well over a million people, with many more in the surrounding area. It also features countless roadways and untold numbers of people visiting the city every week. Unfortunately, this means that auto accidents are all but inevitable. When they happen, serious injuries and fatalities are often the result. This is why it’s so important, no matter how safe a driver you are, to always have the contact information for a qualified attorney on hand.

Recently, in Oceanside, an accident that occurred that left three people in the hospital. However, the truth is that these three people were lucky it wasn’t far worse. That’s because a San Diego Gas and Electric utility truck was involved. The size of these trucks, combined with the high speeds they can reach on the highway, often make for a deadly recipe. This is especially true when you consider the equipment and chemicals they often carry.

According to Oceanside police, the crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. this past Wednesday on Route 76. A 34-year-old man from Oceanside was driving his 2007 Toyota Corolla east on 76 when he decided to make a left turn onto Douglas Drive in order to head north. Unfortunately, it seems he didn’t have the right of way. As such, his decision put him right in the path of a San Diego Gas and Electricity utility truck. Witnesses confirm the truck had the right of way in making its turn.

Emergency responders took both drivers to Scripps La Jolla Hospital immediately. Though we don’t know the full extent of their accidents, we know they were bad enough that they had to be airlifted to help. However, a passenger from the utility truck was taken by ambulance to Tri-City Medical Center nearby.

It should go without saying that the Oceanside man should contact an attorney. However, the other driver may also want legal representation to ensure his damages are recouped.
