Accident in Carlsbad Kills Two

San Diego and the surrounding areas are almost always packed with traffic, often even late into the night. It’s one of the reasons the city rates so poorly in terms of pedestrian deaths. Of course, it’s also why San Diego experiences so many traffic accidents throughout the year. If you’re not already driving with the contact info for a qualified attorney, now’s a good time to make sure you start doing that.

Unfortunately, one person lost his life recently in a car accident in Carlsbad. Obviously, no amount of legal representation is going to change that, but the driver involved should certainly get in touch with a lawyer ASAP.

Details are still lacking while the investigation is under way, but we know it was about 9:30 a.m. when the fatal accident happened. The location was on the 2700 block of Monroe Street.

Witnesses said a car was otherwise traveling unremarkably until all of a sudden it crossed over into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was able to make it through both lanes unscathed but then ran straight into trees on the other side, according to the Carlsbad Police Department. No other people were involved in the crash or hurt by the vehicle.

Sadly, the passenger, a 91-year old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. We don’t yet know what his relationship was to the 79-year old female who had been driving. She was discovered alive at the scene, though, and immediately transferred to Scripps La Jolla Hospital. According to police, she suffered major injuries.

Police have yet to release the names of the two people involved or otherwise comment on the accident. They did say, however, that alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.

Obviously, the woman behind the wheel should probably speak to a lawyer, even if the accident was just that: an accident. Still, it’s a tragic reminder that your life could be changed at any time by another driver, so it’s best to have representation ready.
